When President Barack Obama first addressed the nation to unveil his Immigration Accountability Executive Actions, the media and the internet were in a frenzy to see who could get the story out first. In recent years, as raising capital has become more difficult for developers and the waiting time for green cards has increased for immigrants from certain countries, the popularity of the EB-5 Regional Center Program (also known as the Investor Pilot Program) has skyrocketed. On the one hand, that is great news for developers and investors alike. How to Respond When ICE Offers to Help

When someone approaches you in a friendly manner, you want to oblige. When someone smiles, your natural inclination is to smile back. So it’s no wonder that an employer may not understand the danger posed when a friendly Immigration and Customs Enforcement (“ICE”) auditor shows up at the workplace to help the employer understand its recordkeeping obligations and ensure the employer is doing its paperwork properly, even promising to do so in a timely manner so as not to disrupt the employer’s business. President Obama Unveils His Proposed Executive Actions on Immigration

Last night, President Obama unveiled his Immigration Accountability Executive Actions in an effort to address the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants currently living in the United States. While many of the specific details are still being worked on as some will require regulations and/or policy memoranda, it is President Obama’s goal to streamline legal immigration in hopes of boosting our economy and promoting naturalization for qualified individuals.
