If Congress is unable to arrive at an agreement on the 2016 federal budget, the Federal government may shut down, resulting in the suspension of some immigration services. Immigration functions that are funded by user fees – including border operations and application processing at USCIS and U.S. consulates – would likely continue, though delays would be possible. Functions that would be suspended in the case of a shutdown would include PERM, labor condition application and prevailing wage operations at the Department of Labor. To the extent possible, efforts should be made to file your most urgent cases immediately.
